Fundy-St. Martins Rural Plan

Have your say and help shape the future of land use and development in the Village of Fundy-St. Martins!

What is a Rural Plan?

A Rural Plan is a bylaw which provides a long-term vision for development in Fundy-St. Martins through your input and ideas. The bylaw determines what types of developments can be built where (commercial, residential, mixed use, etc), what natural resources should be protected, and where infrastructure is needed  (water supply, roads, etc.). Building permit applications are then evaluated based on the policies and standards established by the community in your rural plan bylaw. All villages in New Brunswick are required to have an up-to-date rural plan.

How does it affect me?

A rural plan can be used to address issues like food insecurity and the need for affordable housing, and they may impact what you are permitted to build on your property according to the rules set by the community in your rural plan. New buildings and developments must meet the standards and permitted uses of the rural plan to receive a building permit, or they must apply for a variance or rezoning.

Thank you for engaging!

Our survey and interactive map are now closed. Check back later to view our What We Heard report, and to review the first draft of the Rural Plan!
